The following was posted by a participant in the newsgroup Alt.Smokers:

Disney has chosen to restrict smoking in OUTDOOR areas of their theme parks.  The "Designated" smoking areas are few and far between, difficult to find, and poorly marked. We did eventually find a few of them, they are small green square pipes. With no nearby seating in most cases, and usually not very accessible by handicapped people ( I guess Disney thinks people in wheelchairs don't smoke ). We were unaware of this new policy at the time we dropped nearly $600 for seasonal passes. Now, it is almost impossible to enjoy the parks, since we are always looking for the smoking areas, Frequently, we have to light up in "Undesignated" areas, and puff down as much as we can before the Disney gestapo makes us put it out.

If you would like to voice an opinion to Disney regarding this new discriminatory policy, here is the address and E-Mail

I hope Smokers will unite to stop this over regulation, and end Smoker Discrimination!

The following was a follow-up to the above complaint by another participant of the newsgroup Alt.Smokers:

I recently took the Liberty, a most appropriate term, to e-mail Disney World, asking them what accommodations they provide for smokers.

Here's their reply:

Thank you for your e-mail message.

We appreciate your interest in the location of the designated smoking areas within our theme parks.  The following is a list, by park, of the locations.  We hope this information proves helpful. We look forward to entertaining you during our Millennium Celebration.

Sounds like a long list, doesn't it?  That's the benefit of merely needing to "list" the accomodations on a brochure or through correspondence which, according to the first author who has actually recently visited Disney World, is very misleading.

They'll promise you the world, only to find out it is indeed a very small world after all.
